Fees, Costs, Deposit and Billing Policies
It is not possible to estimate or predict the Mediator’s total bill in advance. Mediator’s time includes joint and private mediation sessions, telephone conferences and negotiations, document review and other preparation, and related pre- and post-session work.
Fees
- There are no set-up, administrative or case management fees.
- No other case will be scheduled on the day of your mediation session, even though no flat daily fee is charged.
- The minimum time for a reserved mediation session is four hours for most matters.
- Half day matters are charged at rate of $1,800 (includes 1 hour of preparation).
- Full day matters are charged at a rate of $3,000 (includes 2 hours of preparation).
Costs
Costs are billed on post-mediation statements and are generally not projected or otherwise used in determining the required deposits. Costs include but are not limited to travel, parking, and conference/mediation session facilities.
- There is no charge for travel time or mileage to mediation locations within the immediate San Francisco or Monterey Bay. Inquire concerning billing rates for personal automobile and other travel outside such area.
- Travel (including accommodations and related expenses), parking, conference/mediation session facilities, etc., are billed at actual cost.
Deposits
Prior to commencing the private mediation session, the parties must pay all past due amounts and an initial advance deposit. The initial deposit is based on an estimate by the Mediator of the length of the mediation session(s) and preparation only; the nature of the dispute, the nature and number of parties and the complexity and/or number of the disputed issues are among the factors considered. The deposit is due and payable upon selection of the mediation date.
Cancellation/Rescheduling Policies
Cancellation and rescheduling fees are to be paid by the party or parties who cancel, do not appear or request rescheduling, unless it is otherwise agreed between or among the parties and such agreement is communicated to the Mediator in writing; all such fees are immediately due and payable.

Notice of less than 7 days: Full payment* required

Notice of 15 days or more: 1 hour at quoted rate

Rescheduling Fees

*The term “full payment” shall mean the entire amount of the initial deposit specified, whether or not payment has been made or, if no deposit was requested, the amount corresponding to the duration reserved.
